The Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are already playing an important role in our everyday life and will be even more significant in the future. The question is how the future of IoT will look like. On one hand, IoT has the potential to bring huge opportunities. On the other hand, it carries several associated risks and challenges. 

In our project, Next Generation Internet of Things (NGIoT), we are creating the roadmap for IoT, focusing on data, ethics and trust. NGIoT is a three-year Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme.  

IoT-enabled services are an integral part of our projects SynchroniCity, OrganiCity and SCORE. SynchroniCity has helped developed 50 IoT- and AI-enabled services for smart cities and communities that are all built on a common technical ground to make them scalable and prevent vendor lock-in in cities.
